The Dar Bellarj Foundation was imagined — dreamed of — by Susanna Biedermann as a place for both celebration and learning. Experienced and operated as a cultural center dedicated to the promotion of Morocco’s architectural and artistic heritage, as well as its living culture, Dar Bellarj is a place of life, a school of the senses. Its location in the heart of the Medina of Marrakech makes it a space for meeting and sharing for artists and the people of Marrakech.
Dar Bellarj places Art and Culture at the center of its project through the heritage dimension of its architecture, but above all through a rich program and an inclusive and community-based educational approach. Contemporary art engages in dialogue with traditional arts and opens, for its audiences, the doors to a transcultural imagination.
Open to everyone, Dar Bellarj’s programs connect the “Spirit of the Place” to contemporary artistic creation, transforming this large traditional Riad into an agora where all generations come together.
This vision is structured around four major areas: the promotion of Morocco’s tangible and intangible heritage, support for artistic creation and arts and crafts, research, and transmission.
