The 2024 edition of Ch[a]rita / السِّيس devoted its research and interventions to the Marrakech Palmgrove, exploring its unique oasis systems, ecologies, and infrastructures related to water and the commons. The project approached the city’s heritage through a critical perspective, with the aim of valuing and rethinking these spaces for a diverse and intergenerational audience.
By engaging with territories that were once held in common and are now increasingly threatened by gentrification, modernization, and climate change, Ch[a]rita sought to create symbolic “playgrounds” conducive to collective reflection. This edition continued the program’s broader approach of exploring the complex relationships between the city and its margins.
